The F-8E(FN) Crusader was the French naval variant of the American F-8 Crusader, operated by the French Navy from its aircraft carriers. Modified with a larger wing area, improved high-lift devices and other changes to suit carrier operations, it provided the French Navy with a capable supersonic fleet-defence fighter. It entered French service in 1964 and remained in service until 1999.
