The Supermarine Spitfire Mk V was a British single-seat fighter developed as an improved version of the Spitfire Mk II. Powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine, it introduced changes to the airframe and armament and was produced in several variants for different operational roles. It entered RAF service in 1941 and was widely used during the Second World War.
