The A-1 Skyraider was an American single-seat attack aircraft developed for carrier operations and close air support. Powered by a large radial engine, it combined exceptional endurance and a heavy weapons payload with rugged construction, making it highly effective in ground-attack and combat support missions. It entered US Navy service in 1946 and remained in American service until 1973.
