The F/A-18E Super Hornet is an American single-seat, twin-engine carrier-based multirole fighter developed by McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. Designed for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, it features an enlarged airframe, increased fuel capacity and upgraded avionics compared with the earlier F/A-18 Hornet. It entered US Navy service in 1999 and remains in service today.
