The Sea Harrier is a British single-seat carrier-based fighter developed from the Hawker Siddeley Harrier. Designed for fleet air defence and maritime strike missions, it uses vectored thrust to perform short take-offs and vertical landings. It entered Royal Navy service in 1979 and remained in British service until 2006.
