The Luftwaffe began receiving the Eurofighter Typhoon in 2003, and it now forms the backbone of Germany’s combat aircraft fleet. It serves in air-to-air and air-to-ground roles, ensuring national air defense and contributing to NATO missions. Germany is modernizing its fleet, including ECM/ELINT variants to replace Tornado aircraft, with additional Eurofighters ordered to maintain capability into the 2030s.
