The MiG-25RBF was a specialized reconnaissance-bomber variant of the Soviet MiG-25 “Foxbat,” developed in the 1970s. It combined the high-speed, high-altitude performance of the MiG-25 with photographic and electronic reconnaissance capabilities, while retaining limited strike ability with bombs or rockets. The RBF was designed to penetrate advanced air defenses at speeds exceeding Mach 2.8, gather intelligence, and perform tactical bombing missions. It served primarily with the Soviet Air Force, complementing other MiG-25 reconnaissance variants like the RB and RBT, and was eventually phased out as newer aircraft, such as the Su-24 and Su-27 family, assumed its reconnaissance and strike roles.
