The Japanese air force has been called Japan Self Defense Force since the American occupation. JASDF operates a number of tactical C-130 transporters, and in case it becomes necessary for defense, their range is sufficient to drop parachute troops over North Korea. That has, however, never been necessary, which is why the C-130H with the registration 05-1084 carries an almost civilian blue livery. Available Sept/Oct 2005.
